Qualcomm is seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in Cellular Technologies to design, implement, and validate state-of-the-art cellular technologies. This role involves contributing to 5G/6G base-station L1 modem PHY layer SW on proprietary processors, with opportunities to lead software architecture and internal interfaces.

Responsibilities

Design, standardize, implement, verify, validate, and commercialize Wireless WAN (or cellular) air interface and modem technologies.
Design, optimize, and implement software for highly critical wireless systems and modems.
Collaborate with high-level stakeholders to develop high quality and high capability air interface and modems with high performance.
Guide cross-functional efforts to design products and solutions that meet customer requirements and standards.
Own complete unit-level verification for sub-system, including software performance and quality.
Oversee the integration of software into platforms and products.
Write detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for highly complex projects.
Review documentation of junior and experienced engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
8+ years of experience with computer architecture or embedded systems.
4+ years in a technical leadership role.
1+ year of applicable wireless, semiconductor and/or embedded software industry experience.
Qualcomm QDSP6 and related scalar and vector DSP processor development experience.
Familiarity working closely with hardware, 5G NR/LTE protocols.
Required knowledge of C, C++, Python, Real time operating systems, Embedded systems, multi-threaded programming decisions.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with embedded FW design with constrained MIPS and memory.
Experience with design for test and debug.
Experience with test-driven development.
Familiarity with ORAN compliant ODU, ORU SoC products and SCF FAPI specifications.
