Press Operator (2nd Shift)

In short

Set up and operate various machinery such as punch presses, power brakes, and rolling machines to form materials. This role requires the ability to read blueprints, perform shop mathematics, and adjust computerized gauging systems. Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines like punch presses, gang presses, power brakes, and rolling machines.
  • Set up and operate power machinery for complex material forming, including frequent program adjustments using custom frame press brake software (Shopgrid and Cincinnati).
  • Train and instruct other operators on changeovers, troubleshooting, and material handling.
  • Work from blueprints, routing tickets, and architects’ drawings.
  • Mathematically calculate gauging and set-ups for special work and make adjustments.
  • Move material into and out of the work area.
  • Maintain necessary records for documentation.
  • Check quantities, sizes, and types of tolerance for parts being run.
  • Operate small tools such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, wrenches, and test equipment.

Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing experience, preferred.
  • Able to read and write legibly.
  • Able to read blueprints, shop drawings, and work from sketches.
  • Excellent knowledge of shop mathematics, work-in-process, and finished product.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs. for approximately 60% of the time.
  • Able to work on own initiative without immediate supervision.
  • Able to adjust and use computerized gauging.
  • Ability to attain knowledge of metric dimensions.
  • Able to easily communicate with all levels of team members.
  • Ability to work shifts up to 12 hours and more than 40 hours per week as scheduled.
