As a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician at Volvo Cars, you will execute maintenance tasks on automated equipment, requiring in-depth technical knowledge. You will troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical breakdowns, analyze failure causes, and suggest improvements, while ensuring safety compliance. This role involves both planned and reactive maintenance, administrative tasks, and operator support in a high-stress manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute maintenance tasks on automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex equipment breakdowns (mechanical and electrical).
  • Analyze failures and equipment technical loss causes.
  • Make or suggest improvements to machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform planned tasks related to predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to reduce the consequences of failure.
  • Participate in problem analysis, root cause identification, and solution implementation.
  • Create and execute improvement proposals.
  • Complete administrative tasks using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support operators by providing training.
  • Respond to and resolve maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
  • Actively troubleshoot maintenance issues for proper resolution.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in electrical and mechanical maintenance of equipment, OR military experience in a technical field OR an Associate’s Degree in a technical field.
  • Proficient in both electrical and mechanical knowledge and abilities.
  • Basic hand/power tool familiarity.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications or work instructions.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industrial electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email).
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP or Maximo).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and program PLCs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player.
  • Ability to perform maintenance in a high-stress manufacturing environment.
  • Availability to work any shift (weekends, holidays, and overtime).
  • Ability to perform essential job functions including lifting up to 33lbs, standing for extended periods, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.

Desired Qualifications

  • Pumping system maintenance experience.
  • Conveyor system maintenance experience.
