We’re expanding our Commercial Segment, seeking to a Mechanical Engineer Intern in the Bored Lock and Cylinders Engineering Team within our Access Egress Hardware Group (AEHG). This internship provides a unique opportunity to work on both New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering initiatives, offering valuable exposure to real-world engineering challenges and solutions.

This position will sit onsite in Berlin, CT. This position will report to the Director of Engineering, Bored Lock and Cylinders.

What you will be doing 

  • Collaborate on New Product Development projects to design and refine innovative products.
  • Contribute to Sustaining Engineering efforts to enhance and maintain existing products.
  • Update engineering drawings and 3D models as part of the engineering change process.
  • Perform problem analysis to support product performance and reliability improvements.
  • Assist with operational support tasks to ensure seamless engineering workflows.
  • Create technical documentation, including diagrams and reports, to support project goals.

What we are looking for

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance studies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documentation and analysis.

Additional Requirements:

  • The internship is based on site at our Berlin facility, with travel to the New Haven facility as required by project needs.
