Medeco Security Locks is seeking a full-time Machine Operator in Salem, VA. This role involves operating and setting up various machines, ensuring precision and quality, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. Experience with CNC machines and a High School Diploma or equivalent are required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines including lathes, cutters, borers, millers, grinders, presses, drills, and CNC machines.
  • Position and align controls or mount gears, cams, or templates to set cutting speeds, depths, feed rates, and angles.
  • Observe operations to inspect first-run workpieces and ensure specified timing, clearance, and tolerances.
  • Position and align cutting tools, and select and adjust alignment of drills, cutters, dies, guides, and holding devices.
  • Troubleshoot machine and setup issues.
  • Study blueprints, layouts, or charts to visualize work sequences, dimensions, and tooling instructions.
  • Train and assist colleagues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, kaizen, quality, and cycle time reduction initiatives.
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in machine setting is preferred.
  • Capable of performing machine changeovers and adjustments with precision and efficiency on all machines.
  • Understanding of coolant and cutting oils.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc G & M codes is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machines.
