Microsoft is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to design, develop, and evaluate components for electronic devices, focusing on hardware quality engineering for AI and GPU-based data center fleets. This internship involves analyzing hardware telemetry, identifying failure patterns, and partnering with various teams to improve reliability and reduce resolution times.

Responsibilities

  • Performs single-node and rack-level validation to confirm hardware remediation effectiveness before fleet re-entry.
  • Analyzes large volumes of hardware telemetry, logs, and diagnostics data to identify systemic failure patterns and repeat offenders.
  • Partners with diagnostics and platform teams to enable out-of-band telemetry collection, integrate diagnostics into existing operational tools and workflows.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the internship.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) of technical engineering experience.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with server architectures and/or their subsystems – including GPU, CPU, AI hardware, Memory and methods for root cause analysis and debugging.
  • 3+ months related technical engineering experience or internship experience.
