HR People Consultant

Logistics, Sales & Operations · HR & Admin · HR Operations

In short

Synopsys is seeking an HR People Consultant to act as an advisor for managers and employees on HR policies and complex employee cases. This role involves executing core People cycles and coordinating employee lifecycle transactions, requiring a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of HR experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the go-to advisor for managers and employees across assigned business groups on People policies, workplace situations, and gray areas where policy meets reality
  • Manage complex employee cases and Tier-3 escalations, applying judgment and discretion while keeping things consistent and compliant
  • Execute core People cycles including performance reviews, compensation planning, talent calibrations, and workforce changes from start to finish
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle transactions like internal transfers, promotions, reorganizations, job changes, and offboarding with accuracy and care
  • Partner with People Partners, Legal, Shared Services, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Immigration, and other Centers of Excellence to untangle issues and deliver solutions that work
  • Support sensitive change initiatives by validating data, documenting decisions, enabling managers, drafting employee communications, and ensuring compliant execution
  • Review workforce and organizational data to spot trends, catch discrepancies, and surface insights that help business leaders make better talent decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years in HR generalist, employee relations, or People operations roles, or an advanced degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Deep working knowledge of HR policies, employment law basics, and how to apply them in real situations without creating more risk
  • Experience managing complex employee cases, Tier-3 escalations, and sensitive workplace situations with discretion and sound judgment
  • Hands-on experience executing People programs like performance cycles, compensation planning, workforce changes, or organizational transitions
  • Comfort working in HRIS systems like Workday to process transactions, pull data, validate accuracy, and troubleshoot issues
  • Strong analytical skills to review workforce data, identify trends or gaps, and translate what you find into actionable insights
  • Expertise in the Microsoft suite of tools required
  • Experience partnering with Legal, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, or other Centers of Excellence

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Success Factors, Visier, Betterworks, and PAVE platforms is a plus
  • You can take a messy situation with incomplete information and figure out the right next step without waiting for someone to tell you what to do
  • You explain policy in plain language, not HR speak, and managers walk away from conversations with you knowing exactly what they need to do next
  • You stay calm when a case gets escalated, a reorg timeline moves up, or someone is upset, and you focus on solving the problem in front of you
  • You know when to handle something yourself and when to pull in Legal, Compensation, or a People Partner, and you do it early enough to matter
  • You keep track of a lot of moving pieces at once without dropping details, missing deadlines, or losing sight of what is confidential
  • You care about making processes better, not just getting through them, and you speak up when something is broken or inconsistent

Benefits

  • Comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits
  • Total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings
  • Potential eligibility for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses
  • Comprehensive health, wellness, and financial benefits as part of a competitive total rewards package
