As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager in Nanjing, China, you will partner with leadership to drive a consistent EHS vision, develop and implement local EHS programs, and oversee compliance with regulations and standards. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a critical business partner and drive a consistent strategic vision for EHS across the organization.
  • Align with EHS strategies, initiatives, systems, and expectations to drive safety awareness, engagement, and incident prevention.
  • Partner with leadership to integrate health, environment, and safety programs, providing EHS leadership, expertise, and guidance.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and review health, environment, and safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure EHS-related training programs are in place and effectively deployed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of related laws/regulations and emerging issues.
  • Lead internal and external inspections and audits, ensuring Management Systems are effective and in conformance to ISO standards.
  • Analyze EHS statistics, prepare reports/dashboards, and make recommendations for control measures.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned to enable continual improvement.
  • Provide leadership in interactions with local or regional regulatory agencies.
  • Support ad-hoc assignments and/or responsibilities assigned by leadership.
  • Direct the incident investigation process using root-cause analyses tools.
  • Work with key stakeholders to establish sustainable methods for ensuring 3rd party EHS requirements are met.
  • Review EHS requirements and lead actions to confirm compliance.
  • Develop emergency response processes to minimize risk.
  • Analyze the impact of safety, environment, and health compliance on proposed projects.
  • Maintain positive relationships with cross-functional teams and EHS-related vendors/contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Science, or Engineering.
  • Expertise in Environmental, Health, Safety laws and regulations.
  • Ability to travel and work in outdoor environments as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to relate to all kinds of people and build relationships based on trust and credibility.
  • Effective in a variety of communication settings.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate and influence management in different groups.
  • Creates strategies and execution plans that show a clear connection between vision and action.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office® products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • 5+ years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health and Safety programs in manufacturing or heavy industry settings.
  • Proven knowledge of relevant agency and industry standards and practices including but not limited to OSHA.
  • Experience developing and conducting EHS training, policies, and procedures.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) or equivalent preferred.
  • ISO 14001, 45001, or 9001 EHS Lead Auditor experience or certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
