As a Commissioning Engineer in Busan, South Korea, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and start-up support of screw and turbo compressor packages on LNG carriers. This role requires technical expertise in rotating machinery, troubleshooting, and customer interaction, with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
Responsibilities
- Execute installation, commissioning, cold gas testing, and start-up support for compressor packages on LNG carriers.
- Prepare installation and commissioning phases from technical and scheduling perspectives.
- Support compressor installation for optimal performance and efficiency.
- Start up compressors and perform diagnostic testing with the customer team.
- Execute and support cold gas tests and integration into on-board processes.
- Attend customer meetings and plan daily activities with on-site labor.
- Diagnose and resolve machinery issues directly at the customer's location; perform field repairs.
- Train customers and ensure clear communication while following safety protocols.
- Prepare daily project activity and technical reports.
- Participate in de-briefings to communicate improvement issues back to engineering and production.
- Maintain proper business travel practices.
- Support the integration of compressors into on-board processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation/Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
- Technical knowledge of turbo and/or screw compressor packages and related auxiliary equipment.
- Knowledge of control systems and PLC programming.
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
- Korean language proficiency required.
- Proficient user of Microsoft 365 applications.
- Previous field service or commissioning experience.
- Experience supporting installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, or technical service activities.
- Experience working with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- High communicative skills.
- Self-driven with high resilience and ability to prioritize.
- Structured approach and organizational talent.
- Independent way of working and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Service orientation.
- Willingness to travel.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP is an advantage).
- Familiarity with PLM systems.
- Experience in marine environments, particularly LNG applications, is a strong advantage.
- Experience working with turbo and/or screw compressor packages, rotating machinery, and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Experience working with customers and cross-functional stakeholders in a service or project environment.
