Qualcomm is seeking an RF Software Engineer with a background in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) to develop and validate software for Modem-RF Wireless chipsets. This role requires strong C/C++ programming skills, knowledge of RF and digital communications, and experience with embedded systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs.
  • Develop drivers for Modem-RF Transceivers in collaboration with RF Hardware, Modem/Baseband, and RF ASIC teams.
  • Create, develop, and optimize Modem and RF Transceiver and Antenna / RF Front End algorithms and Software modules.
  • Provide Modem-RF Driver expertise to investigations of complex RF and Modem issues.
  • Work closely with physical layer teams to deliver new features and maintain competitive Modem performance.
  • Collaborate with RF & Modem Systems, Hardware, and Test Engineering during product development cycles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Strong C programming skills with an understanding of RF and/or Communications systems.
  • Knowledge of digital communications and RF theory.
  • C and/or C++ Software Programming and Debugging skills on Embedded real time operating systems/RTOS.
  • Good understanding of Software Engineering concepts.
  • Good understanding of Wireless communication systems.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge with HW and RF Test equipment (Protocol Test Equipment, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, etc.).
  • Good communication skills and be a team player.

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelor's in Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent.
  • An understanding of embedded real time systems is desired.
  • Experience in LTE or 5G wireless systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication in any of the radio access technologies (e.g. LTE, 5GNR, etc.) is a plus.
  • Wireless system knowledge and/or background, applicable to Modem-RF Software, Communication theory and Radio architecture.
  • Modem/Communications device driver development experience is an added advantage.
  • Fresh grads need to have a good understanding of C and/or C++, Software Engineering concepts with focus on embedded software, Digital/Wireless Communications, ECE fundamentals and RF Theory.
