The Mechanical Engineer – Core Design is responsible for the design and development of semiconductor equipment and mechanical modules, requiring expertise in UG NX, GD&T, Sheet Metal, and FEA. This role involves leading concept creation, detailed design, validation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using UG NX, develop innovative concepts, and apply DFM/DFA principles.
Apply ASME Y14.5 standards for GD&T and conduct tolerance stack-ups.
Design sheet metal enclosures, brackets, and frames, considering manufacturability.
Understand semiconductor fabrication processes like vacuum design, plasma interaction, and thermal loads.
Select appropriate materials based on mechanical, thermal, chemical, and vacuum criteria.
Perform structural/thermal FEA analysis using ANSYS/Abaqus and validate heat dissipation.
Collaborate with electrical, systems, manufacturing, supply chain, and reliability teams.
Support prototype builds, perform functional testing, and release designs through PLM tools.

Requirements

Expert level proficiency in UG NX.
Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
Experience in Sheet Metal Design and Drafting.
Proficiency in Tolerance Stack-up (Worst Case & Statistical).
Knowledge of Semiconductor Fabrication Processes.
Experience in Material Selection for Vacuum & Cleanroom Applications.
Expertise in Structural & Thermal FEA (ANSYS/Abaqus).
Familiarity with SOM Documentation.
Application of DFM/DFA principles.
Experience with PLM Tools (Teamcenter/Windchill).

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
7–10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in semiconductor equipment, high-tech capital machinery, robotics, or precision systems.
Strong communication and presentation abilities.
Ability to lead technical discussions and decisions.
Analytical problem-solving and root-cause analysis capability.
Mentorship experience with junior engineers.
