Volvo Group is seeking a Data Engineer in Curitiba, Brazil, to design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Azure services and Power BI. This role involves implementing data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions, as well as building and maintaining Power BI semantic models and dataflows.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand data requirements, translating them into scalable technical solutions.
- Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Implement data ingestion processes from various sources including databases, APIs, enterprise systems, and streaming platforms.
- Develop and maintain data transformation and enrichment processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability.
- Build and manage data storage solutions using Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI semantic models, including data relationships, measures, calculated columns, hierarchies, and reusable enterprise data models to support reporting and analytics solutions.
- Develop and maintain Power BI Dataflows to provide standardized, reusable, and governed data transformation and preparation layers across multiple reports and analytics solutions.
- Optimize Power BI semantic models and Dataflows for performance, scalability, refresh efficiency, and effective utilization of Power BI capacity and resources.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with applicable data security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines, Dataflows, and semantic models to meet SLAs, refresh schedules, and scalability requirements.
- Work closely with data scientists, BI developers, and analysts to provide reliable and reusable data products that support reporting, machine learning, and advanced analytics.
- Document technical specifications, data lineage, data flows, semantic models, and system architectures to ensure effective knowledge transfer and maintainability.
- Stay updated on the latest Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and data engineering technologies and best practices to drive innovation and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational database systems.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Java are desired.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Power BI semantic models, including dimensional modeling, relationships, DAX measures, and model optimization.
- Experience developing Power BI Dataflows, including data transformation, reusable data entities, refresh management, and integration with enterprise data sources.
- Understanding of Power BI Service architecture, gateways, scheduled refreshes, data lineage, and workspace-based deployment and governance.
- Experience with building custom DevOps processes and DevOps boards for tracking project lifecycle, team velocity, collaboration, and integration.
- Familiarity with data governance, data security, and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in the English language is required as all documentation is in English.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Fabric Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, or Direct Lake architecture.
- Experience optimizing Power BI semantic models, refresh processes, and capacity utilization in enterprise environments.
- Previous experience with Volvo Production System.
- Experience with Volvo legacy software such as SPOT, VIPS, GLOPPS, etc.
- Experience with SAP modules.
- Previous experience with Warehouse Management System(s).
- Previous experience working in a supply chain/aftermarket environment.
