AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a skilled Data Centre Linux & HW Engineer in Hyderabad, Telangana to help operate and maintain the world's largest cloud infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting systems, network, and power issues, supporting on-call rotations, and contributing to project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets.
- Act as an escalation point for systems and network hardware problems.
- Troubleshoot Linux server issues and XEN service virtualization.
- Remediate physical layer outages for systems and network.
- Address physical power issues on racks and participate in power/cooling events.
- Install and configure racks of hosts according to internal SLAs.
- Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices.
- Serve as the Data Center point of contact for high severity issues.
- Perform physical replacement of server and network device parts.
- Ensure correct rotation of parts and spares.
- Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency and enforce security best practices.
- Interact with third-party vendors and contractors.
- Participate in and deliver on small to mid-scale projects.
- Share knowledge and mentor less technical staff on break-fix best practices.
- Contribute to the hiring process by participating in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of computer networking experience.
- 2+ years of Linux operating systems experience.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).
