Microsoft is seeking a Critical Environment Technician Intern to support its global cloud infrastructure in Busan, South Korea. Responsibilities

  • Work onsite at datacenters in Busan.
  • Perform basic operational tasks like site rounds, recording observations, and taking measurements under supervision.
  • Learn to operate critical systems safely and professionally, with a chance to earn Microsoft CET Level 1 certification.
  • Monitor and inspect facility equipment (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety systems) and report abnormal conditions.
  • Utilize CMMS for asset tracking and work order management.
  • Assist with emergency monitoring and response.
  • Support incident investigations by gathering data and contributing to root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Document maintenance and troubleshooting activities and escalate issues.
  • Contribute to developing MOPs and SOPs for safe operations.
  • Conduct technical research to enhance knowledge.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • South Korean National or possess residency and eligibility to work in South Korea.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Desired Qualifications

  • Completed qualification in Facilities Management, Mechanical, Electrical engineering or related qualification.
  • Electrical or mechanical engineer diploma level 2.
  • Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights with or without equipment assistance.
  • Able to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient in written and oral English communication.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and develop new technical skills.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.
