Responsibilities

  • Develop LLVM- and MLIR-based compiler components for Qualcomm’s Hexagon DSP
  • Improve ML compiler lowering and optimization pipelines for efficient execution on Qualcomm hardware
  • Use profiling and benchmark data to drive performance and code size improvements
  • Debug correctness and code generation issues across MLIR, LLVM IR, assembly, and generated code
  • Analyze software requirements, determine the feasibility of design within the given constraints, consult with architecture and HW engineers, and come up with software solutions best suited for Qualcomm's SOCs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years or more of compiler engineering experience in industry or academia.
  • Hands-on experience with LLVM, MLIR, GCC, or another production compiler framework
  • Strong programming skills in modern C/C++ and experience working in large software codebases

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional experience developing production-quality compiler infrastructure using LLVM and/or MLIR
  • Strong knowledge of compiler fundamentals, including intermediate representations, compiler analyses, optimization passes, code generation, and debugging
  • Experience analyzing compiler correctness, generated code quality, performance, or code size using benchmarks, tests, and debugging tools
  • Experience with machine learning compiler stacks, ML framework integration, graph-level optimizations, or lowering from frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or ONNX.
  • Knowledge of instruction sets and computer architecture, including SIMD/vector architectures, pipeline behavior, hazards, cache hierarchy, memory organization, and accelerator constraints.
  • Working knowledge of system software tools such as assemblers, linkers, debuggers, profilers, and performance-analysis tools.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Deep knowledge of software engineering
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
