Saab Australia is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer in Adelaide to support the development and upgrade of combat system communication systems for naval vessels. The role involves creating maintenance manuals, test plans, and supporting verification and validation activities, with potential for hybrid work arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and upgrade of maintenance manuals, installation inspections, test plans, and test schedules for CS communication systems.
- Provide support to Verification and Validation (V&V) activities through each test phase of the DDG upgrade program.
- Review CS communication system design material.
- Generate maintenance instructions for new or upgraded CS communication systems.
- Generate test plans and test procedures for new or upgraded CS communication systems.
- Prepare for and support the execution of major program milestone reviews (e.g., system readiness reviews, test readiness reviews).
- Conduct installation inspections, functional testing, and acceptance testing for CS communication systems.
- Support the troubleshooting of CS communication systems faults.
- Assist the CS communications team in the maintenance of CS communication systems.
- Act as the subject matter expert for CS communication subsystems.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field) and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry).
- Proven background in System Engineering, Integration, Test and V&V.
- Up to 4 years of engineering experience.
- Sound understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
- Must be an Australian citizen and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
Desired Qualifications
- Background in Military Communications, RAN or RN communications, voice / data / radio products is desirable.
- Familiarity with complex systems (e.g., military systems) or related defence technologies is desirable.
- Familiarity with System Engineering in an ASDEFCON context is desirable.
