Google is seeking a Mid-Senior level Third Party Data Center Technical Operations Manager in Dalarna, Sweden to oversee facility operations, maintenance, and infrastructure of third-party data centers. This role involves ensuring operability, maintainability, and reliability of electrical, cooling, and IT systems, requiring extensive experience in technical fields and data center environments.
Responsibilities
- Own Co-Location (COLO) sites facility operation within an area/region, with full accountability for this area tactically and strategically.
- Provide technical support for mini-cluster (COLO) sites within a region.
- Keep main stakeholders informed about current work and discuss strategic decisions and directions with them.
- Provide technical expertise during incidents, and coordinate the planning of critical activities.
- Provide occasional oncall support to the global third-party data center operation.
- Operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions, including heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems.
- Inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components.
- Assist senior technicians by reading blueprints/schematics, conducting tours of systems and assessing their working order.
- Develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency.
- Ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly.
- Manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time from failures.
- Be the advocate for the operations organization, ensuring operability, maintainability and reliability are critical criteria for Google assets.
Requirements
- Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or controls experience in an industrial/commercial environment.
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs of equipment, and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.
- English proficiency is a requirement.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced education in a related field.
- Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure.
- Experience with initiating and executing initiatives in a global environment.
- Ability to perform operational assessment and risk analysis of third-party sites.
