We are looking for a Technical Project Engineer to manage the bidding and tendering process for compressed air pipework installations. This role involves end-to-end project ownership, from initial inquiry to final submission, requiring technical expertise, site evaluation, and client relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end pricing process for compressed air installation tenders.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial tenders and technical proposal documents.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, schematic diagrams, and structural blueprints.
  • Produce accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and labour estimates.
  • Source competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Conduct detailed on-site surveys to assess installation feasibility and identify risks.
  • Map out optimal pipework routing and materials.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, clients, and suppliers.
  • Value engineer proposals to offer cost-saving alternatives.
  • Provide clear handovers to the project delivery team upon winning bids.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience estimating mechanical piping systems.
  • Proven track record in compressed air, fluid power, or industrial gas installations.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting construction and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of pipework materials, pressure drops, and flow rates.
  • Proficiency with estimating software.
  • Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness to travel in the UK for site surveys and client meetings.
  • Strong mathematical acumen.
  • Sharp attention to detail.
  • Excellent written English for drafting professional tender proposals.
  • Valid UK driving license.

Desired Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or Quantity Surveying (preferred but not essential if backed by relevant experience).
