Emerson is looking for a Sustaining Engineer in Lodz, Poland, to support existing product lifecycles by providing expertise in product design, material selection, and optimization. The role involves collaborating with global teams to meet quality and cost objectives, drive product improvements, and manage change processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for product design, performance, reliability, and technical problem-solving.
- Support Supply Chain by evaluating, qualifying, and implementing materials and components.
- Collaborate with Design Laboratories for product, component, and material testing.
- Identify and assess alternative materials and components to improve availability, quality, and cost.
- Develop and implement product optimization initiatives for cost reduction, manufacturing efficiency, and lifecycle improvement.
- Lead and support engineering change management processes (initiation, evaluation, documentation, implementation).
- Analyze technical data, manufacturing processes, and product performance for continuous improvement.
- Participate in international projects as a team member and leader.
- Provide technical recommendations based on analysis, testing, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Materials, Materials Science, Mechanical, Fluid Mechanics, or related).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar engineering role (product development, sustaining engineering, or product optimization).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and documentation.
- Knowledge and practical experience with measurement tools and engineering validation methods.
- Strong understanding of material science (metals, elastomers, plastics).
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and production processes (machining, casting, injection molding).
- Very good command of English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting product qualification, validation, and testing activities.
- Familiarity with engineering change management (ECN/ECO) processes.
- Experience working in a global manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
