Volvo Group is looking for a Technical Preparation Engineer in Bangalore, India, to ensure production quality for Chassis engineering areas within product development. This role involves close collaboration with product development and manufacturing teams to implement requirements and verify assembly readiness for sustainable transport solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Secure production quality for Chassis engineering areas designed by product development teams.
  • Support global vehicle engineering and ME sites from the Bangalore office.
  • Work closely with product development teams to secure manufacturing requirements during the product development phase.
  • Provide the right information to Engineering and perform assembly verifications.
  • Lead coordination activities between COT Engineering and ME, production engineering.
  • Ensure manufacturing requirements are implemented into new product designs.
  • Review, participate in, ensure production readiness, and coordinate implementation of new designs and changes.
  • Represent Manufacturing towards Product development/engineering.
  • Set technical requirements on product (incl. process related) and approve technical solutions.
  • Support routing development and validation according to MAA Process when needed.
  • Provide ‘technical ok’ prior to the approval of product structure launch into downstream systems.
  • Create and deliver Delta T estimation.
  • Close manufacturing related project issue logs.
  • Increase product commonality between Volvo, Renault, and Mack trucks.
  • Decrease number of parts and product diversity, assembly time, and standard cost of sales.
  • Enhance ergonomics and assembly environment.
  • Increase manufacturing flexibility.
  • Implement physical module strategy.
  • Timely delivery of Technical Preparation documentation to plants.

Requirements

  • BE/BTech in Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of automotive experience from product development or manufacturing engineering.
  • Good knowledge about trucks, especially in Chassis Engineering area.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle development Process.
  • Knowledge of the parts documentation and structuring (ex: KOLA).
  • Knowledge of Creo, CATIA & Windchill.
  • Knowledge of Virtual Manufacturing and Assembly processes.
  • Perform Assembly Digital Mock up simulations.
  • Recommend Assembly distribution between Factories/plants.
