Qualcomm seeks a Staff Engineer in Bangalore, India, to develop, integrate, and optimize platform software for next-generation SoC platforms. This role requires expertise in Linux, Android, RTOS, and system-level debugging to support platform bring-up, performance optimization, and customer issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate platform software across Linux, Android, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, firmware, middleware, and subsystem interfaces.
- Support platform bring-up, feature enablement, and software readiness for new silicon programs.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues spanning hardware, firmware, kernel, middleware, and application layers.
- Analyze and optimize system behavior across power, performance, memory, thermal, reliability, and user experience.
- Diagnose issues involving CPU, DSP, GPU, memory, storage, clocks, regulators, thermal management, and connectivity subsystems.
- Collaborate with silicon, firmware, validation, and software teams to deliver high-quality platform solutions.
- Drive customer issue investigations from problem identification through root-cause analysis and resolution.
- Contribute to automation, observability, and engineering productivity initiatives.
- Own execution of assigned features and technical deliverables.
- Support milestone planning, risk identification, and issue tracking.
- Drive closure of critical software defects impacting product readiness.
- Support product validation, characterization, and performance analysis activities.
- Participate in customer debugging sessions and technical reviews.
- Support analysis and resolution of customer-reported issues and escalations.
- Communicate technical status, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
- Work closely with architects, program managers, and engineering teams to ensure successful execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in embedded systems, BSP, RTOS, Linux, Android, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, firmware, kernel, or platform software development.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++.
- Experience with system-level debugging, performance analysis, and software integration.
- Understanding of modern SoC architectures and subsystem interactions.
- 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience (with Bachelor's/Master's).
- PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field also considered.
- 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Linux, Android, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, DSP, GPU, modem, connectivity, PMIC, power management, and AI accelerator subsystems.
- Experience with platform bring-up, subsystem integration, performance tuning, crash analysis, and reliability engineering.
- Familiarity with system profiling, tracing, observability, and debug tools.
- Understanding of system-level trade-offs across power, performance, memory, thermal, and user experience metrics.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Claude CLI, GitHub Copilot, MCP agents, and related workflows.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
- PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
