Alfa Laval is seeking a passionate Service Technician for their Suisio, Italy site. This full-time role involves leading repair and rework, checking welding quality, training personnel, and ensuring compliance with various technical standards and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Secure necessary actions in case non-conformities with customer requirements are detected.
- Lead/guide repair and rework.
- Coordinate with engineers and TM for Kaizan/A4 activities.
- Help checking welding quality during the manufacturing process.
- Train welders and related technical personnel.
- Be involved in specifications of welding equipment and fixtures/tools.
- Follow up on the calibration of welding equipment/meters to meet production code requirements (e.g., GB/ASME).
- Support welding engineers for new welding technology import and development, including WPS/PQR.
- Execute production work according to ALPS standards and participate in continuous improvement.
- Coordinate local teams of technicians and subcontractors, assigning tasks and monitoring work progress.
- Promptly resolve technical issues on-site to avoid plant shutdowns.
- Perform daily report writing.
- Manage "Hot Work" permits in potentially explosive atmospheres and perform gas testing.
- Work under stress during plant shutdowns (Turnaround/Shutdown) respecting tight schedules and coordinating 24/7 work shifts.
- Strictly manage work permits (Permit to Work), confined spaces, and work at height.
- Supervise controlled tightening of flange bolts.
- Supervise tube replacement (retubing), tube expansion, and tube-to-tubesheet welding.
Requirements
- Knowledge of flange techniques, retightening, non-destructive testing (NDT), replacement of tube bundles or gaskets, and hydraulic testing procedures.
- Ability to interpret isometric drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and construction/maintenance standards (TEMA, ASME, UNI EN).
- Understanding of material behavior exposed to corrosion, fouling, and thermal shock in process plants.
- Knowledge of ASME Section VIII (for pressure vessels) and TEMA standards.
- Ability to interpret non-destructive tests such as liquid penetrant testing (PT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and radiographic testing (RT).
- Knowledge of welding specifications (WPS/PQR) and ability to verify welders’ qualifications (WPQ) for interventions on pipes and maintenance.
- Excellent command of English (or the local site language) for international communication.
