As a Senior Technical Officer - Combat System in Adelaide, you will lead the sustainment of Saab 9LV Combat System products for the Royal Australian Navy, including interfaces with various ship systems. Your responsibilities include maintaining, updating, and repairing advanced military combat system equipment onboard RAN ships and support facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sustainment of Saab 9LV Combat System products for the Royal Australian Navy.
  • Responsible for the upgrade, update and upkeep of advanced military Combat System equipment.
  • Accountable for the serviceability, readiness and accuracy of the combat systems.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks, including routine planned maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and corrective repairs.
  • Coordinate and execute testing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Deliver test, acceptance and set to work of hardware at factory and ship/shore installations.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems related to operating systems, drivers, and applications.
  • Configure LANs, WANs, VPNs and Wi-Fi, and diagnose network problems.
  • Coordinate routine inspection, condition assessment and monitoring of systems.
  • Identify and fix issues with physical components like hard drives, memory, power supplies, and circuit boards.
  • Deliver closing reports and objective quality evidence such as test reports, test plans, drawing updates.
  • Lead teams in routine and investigative work activities and coordinate support functions.
  • Maintain and improve safe work culture through hazard identification and reporting.

Requirements

  • Certificate III or higher in Electronics and Communications Engineering (or related UEE Electrotechnology competencies) (Essential).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in the defence force, defence industry or maritime environment.
  • Circuits and wiring fault finding in PC and industrial computing bus systems (cPCI, VME).
  • Field fault diagnosis and repair of electronic and electrical equipment.
  • A Working at Heights and Construction Industry White Card.
  • Proficiency in Supervisory, coordinating and planning skills.
  • Installing, commissioning and maintaining of electronic systems.
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting of MS Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Expertise in IPC workmanship standards.
  • A collaborative, accountable, and innovative approach to delivering results.
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to at least the NV1 level.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Electronics and Communications Engineering or higher (Preferred).
