Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of products for electrical power distribution, control, and monitoring in hazardous and industrial environments.
- Support new product development and enhancement initiatives.
- Collaborate with a global engineering team on innovative solutions from concept to production.
- Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle: concept, specifications, design, supplier requirements, validation, and production launch.
- Translate customer insights and competitive assessments into product requirements and design specifications.
- Maintain an understanding of design and regulatory requirements for hazardous location products.
- Develop and review engineering designs, drawings, and bills of materials, managing design costs.
- Support project execution from initiation through launch using Emerson's phase-gate process.
- Research, evaluate, and apply emerging technologies for innovative product solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- 0-3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of thermoplastic, metal casting, electrical contact and conductor design
- Experience with successful development and introduction of product into production
- Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), rapid prototyping, 3D printing and additive manufacturing
- Working knowledge of project management processes and tools; MS Office, MS Project
- Excellent communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Creo 3D modeling
- Experience with AutoCad for 2D drawings
- Working knowledge and familiarity with applicable NEC, CEC and IEC standards for hazardous and commercial/industrial electrical products
- Working knowledge designing enclosures with ingress protection
