Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily engineering R&D facility operations and coordinate technician work.
  • Manage assets, ensuring equipment is operational and fit for purpose.
  • Serve as safety lead for the assigned area, ensuring compliance with protocols and standards.
  • Champion 5S workplace optimization standards for productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage equipment calibration status according to company processes.
  • Perform hands-on builds of electro-mechanical hardware, jigs, fixtures, and wiring harnesses.
  • Execute engineering test routines and document results for design reviews.
  • Conduct technical review studies and provide first-line support.
  • Schedule, assign, and review daily tasks for the technician team.
  • Train and mentor technicians on technical skills and protocols.
  • Act as a liaison between engineers, project managers, and technicians.

Requirements

  • HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Competency in an Electrical and Electronic Engineering environment.
  • Previous experience in personnel supervision/management, including coaching, mentoring, and workload management.
  • Ability to work unsupervised to tight timescales.
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles.
  • Working knowledge of Software principles (embedded and associated tool chains).
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office to a high level.
  • Minimum 3 years in a test-focused role or within test equipment development.
  • Proven experience in data capture and analysis.
  • Proven experience working on multi-disciplinary systems (electrical, mechanical, software).
  • Excellent knowledge of test equipment and platforms.
  • Experience with data capture and logging.
  • Experience in the creation of test reports.
  • Innovative and creative mind-set with technical awareness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm, drive, and personality.

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • Formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Software.
  • High competence with National Instruments LabView and TestStand software tool chains.
  • Experience in creating/modifying software scripts/programs (e.g., Python, Visual Basic, C, C++).
  • Expertise in Verification & Validation processes and associated tools.
  • Experience in the offshore and/or subsea industry.
  • Knowledge of product certification, best-practice, and industry standards.
  • Expert/advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with data archiving/controlled repositories management.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
