Alstom is seeking a Laborer in Los Angeles, CA, to support low-carbon transportation solutions. This unionized role involves ensuring safety compliance, cleaning and servicing rail equipment, and operating a forklift, among other duties. A High School diploma/GED and a valid driver's license are required, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
- Wash Rail equipment and other parts of the train, including passenger cars.
- Fuel and sand equipment on a needs basis.
- Clean and service cars/engine rooms.
- Clean up work areas and dispose of trash.
- Perform general housekeeping of all rail equipment.
- Operate a Forklift.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor and managers in accordance with union agreement.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED
- Valid Driver's License
- 2 years of combined work experience in a relevant field (Formal education may be substituted for experience)
- Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or warehouse work is a plus (but not required)
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to read and understand safety instructions, manuals, and directives.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete tasks accurately.
- Ability to solve basic problems and escalate issues to supervisors as necessary.
- Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications--both general and technical)
- Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
- Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)
- Driving record needs to be absent any moving convictions for alcohol or substance abuse within the previous 36 months
- Basic proficiency with Windows software and Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e., Outlook)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or warehouse work is a plus.
