Join Volvo Group in Bangalore as a Commodity Buyer - Superstructures to drive India segment business plans and manage the complete supply chain. You will be responsible for supplier selection, contract management, cost reduction, and risk mitigation, working closely with stakeholders in a global network.
Responsibilities
- Drive India segment business plans and be an active member of the global buyer network.
- Build expertise within the defined scope and understand the complete supply chain, including market benchmarking, suppliers, and new technologies.
- Ensure supplier selection aligns with the approved segment business plan and meets QDCF-TSR requirements.
- Manage valid agreements with all suppliers and extend contracts on time.
- Collaborate with critical stakeholders like Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Engineering.
- Lead all purchasing activities related to supplier involvement in development projects.
- Perform activities such as negotiations, project implementation, crisis and risk management, and total cost optimization.
- Lead and drive cost reduction activities with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Deliver defined KPIs on time and in accordance with set targets.
- Challenge, negotiate, and report changes after contract signature.
- Ensure suppliers are prepared for production, including capacity and system updates.
- Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in cooperation with suppliers and Supplier Network teams.
- Work in close collaboration with suppliers to map and reduce end-to-end supply chain and manufacturing CO2 emissions.
- Own and drive continuous improvements and excellence in your area.
Requirements
- University degree in BE / B.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile/ Industrial.
- 5-10 years of experience as a buyer in the automotive industry.
- Excellent decision-making skills, considering risks and opportunities, with an ownership mindset.
- Continuous Improvement and Excellence mindset with good communication skills.
- Strong analytical, prioritization, and negotiating skills.
- Strong business acumen with very good knowledge in project management.
- Good in Market Benchmarking, Business Intelligence Analysis, and Scouting Suppliers.
- Good understanding of different manufacturing processes and best practice costing.
- Excellent interpersonal, networking & stakeholder management skills.
- Positive and collaborative mindset and strong energy to contribute to the success of the Volvo Group.
- Proactiveness is an absolute must.
- Experience in handling segments such as Superstructure, Heavy fabrication, Steel, Sheet Metal with welding.
