Alstom is seeking a full-time Mechanical Test Laboratory Engineer (f/m/d) in Hennigsdorf to define test methodologies, perform validation tests in the mechanical domain, and ensure the accuracy of test results. The role requires a Master's degree in mechanical engineering, knowledge of testing standards, and fluency in English and German.

Responsibilities

  • Define test methodology, testing means, and develop test operating modes according to the Test Laboratory Quality Management System.
  • Perform validation and type tests within the mechanical domain (e.g., pantograph contact forces, running dynamics, safety against derailment, running comfort, strain gauge measurement) independently.
  • Guarantee the confidentiality of the test program.
  • Participate in the design and development of tools for testing.
  • Implement, verify, and ensure compliance (calibration) of measuring equipment.
  • Prepare equipment and test objects for testing.
  • Validate that applied configurations and prerequisites allow testing to proceed.
  • Respect EHS rules.
  • Supervise and/or execute test activities, analyze test results live, and decide if a test needs to be redone.
  • Process test results data and write static and dynamic test reports.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of testing methodology according to Test Laboratory accreditation level (EN17025, COFRAQ, ISO, etc.).
  • Experience in mechanical (railway) vehicle testing (e.g., pantograph testing, safety against derailment, strain measurement, ride comfort, weight measurement).
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Willingness to travel for measurement tasks.
  • Fluent in English and German (French beneficial).
