In short

We are recruiting Store Assistants for our new IKEA Chester store. This part-time role involves a variety of tasks including customer assistance, sales, food service, and maintaining store appearance. Experience in retail or customer service is helpful, but a proactive attitude is most important.

Responsibilities

  • Helping customers find solutions for their homes.
  • Serving customers in the Bistro.
  • Supporting click-and-collect orders.
  • Keeping the store looking its best.
  • Taking responsibility for all areas of the small store, including customer-facing roles like sales, checkouts, returns, fulfilment, and food service in the Bistro.
  • Using the IKEA vision to prioritise the customer experience.
  • Maximising sales by ensuring all areas of responsibility are clean, fully stocked, and products are well-presented.
  • Carrying out manual handling and heavy lifting of various stock, using pump trucks and trolleys.
  • Using appropriate stock ordering processes and systems.
  • Ensuring all safety protocols and regulations are followed.

Requirements

  • Able to multitask effectively, manage your own workload, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to use your initiative and analyse the shop floor to decide priorities with the customer at the heart of the operation.
  • Bring a strong customer-first mindset.
  • Confident using computers and technology to support day-to-day tasks.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to prioritise work and stay composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude.
  • Ability to bring transferable skills and apply them confidently in food areas.

Desired Qualifications

  • Retail or customer service experience is helpful.
  • Experience in food service or food safety is an advantage, though not required.
