Qualcomm is seeking a Senior SoC Systems Performance Engineer to analyze and define next-generation SoC architectures for mobile, automotive, and compute products. This role involves leading performance studies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and optimizing hardware and software for best-in-class performance, power, and thermal characteristics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct performance and systems studies.
  • Conduct analysis to define SOC architecture plans considering performance, power, and thermal constraints.
  • Collaborate with HW and SW teams to define best-in-class multimedia, modem, compute, and memory technologies.
  • Define complex use cases including new workloads (Gaming, AI) and infer systems requirements.
  • Deploy simulators, profilers, or hardware to understand performance bottlenecks and provide quantitative justification for architectural changes or tuning.
  • Apply computer architecture knowledge of CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, cache coherency, virtual memory, etc.
  • Communicate experimental results with technical leads and peers.
  • Overcome obstacles to obtain answers to architectural questions.
  • Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years System Engineering or related work experience.
  • MS or PhD degree.
  • 2+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Industry experience in one or more of the following areas: Computer Architecture concepts (CPU, GPU, DSP, interconnects, shared memory, etc.), System or chipset development for SoC products (preferably in the mobile market), OS principles and HW/SW interaction, SoC bus, interconnect, memory technologies, memory controllers, scheduling, MMUs.
  • Hands-on experience in using and modifying simulators and performance/power models, especially full-system models.
  • Experience with SystemC and event-driven simulators.
  • Experience using code and/or system profiling tools.
  • C/C++ programming.
  • VLSI design and verification.
  • Pragmatic scripting & automation skills.
  • Familiarity with ARM, Linux.
  • Familiarity with multimedia or communication technologies including audio codec, video codec, camera, WLAN, LTE and 5G.
