Spotify is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to support its global Advertising Revenue operations. This role involves executing month-end close activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting under IFRS and SOX, and partnering with various teams to improve accounting processes and systems for a rapidly growing business.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate accounting for Spotify’s Advertising Revenue business (Programmatic, Direct-Sold, Podcast, Emerging Ad Products).
- Execute and review month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses.
- Ensure accurate and timely advertising financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and SOX.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and partner with stakeholders to implement scalable solutions.
- Develop and refine revenue accounting processes for new revenue streams, ad formats, and integrations.
- Partner with Technical Accounting, Finance, Legal, Sales, and other teams on accounting and systems initiatives.
- Prepare support for internal and external audits and assess accounting risks.
- Support acquisitions, ERP, and other system implementations and special projects.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in revenue accounting, accounting operations, general ledger accounting, or public accounting.
- Experience in digital advertising, ad tech, digital media, entertainment, or a similarly scaled business is ideal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent higher education.
- Understanding of IFRS, revenue recognition principles, and accounting controls.
- Exposure to ITGC and/or SOX environments.
- Experience working with NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, including during close periods.
- Collaboration skills across teams and time zones.
- Curiosity and adaptability in a changing business and technology environment.
Desired Qualifications
- CPA or CA credentials are a plus.
- Experience with SQL, BigQuery, or AI-enabled tools is a plus.
