Senior Engineer - Chassis Structures with 10-12 years of experience in mechanical or automobile engineering is needed to design advanced chassis structures, including battery boxes, for sustainable transport solutions at Volvo Group in Bangalore. The role involves product release, supplier coordination, and leading engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of Advanced Structures like ESS, Battery Box Structure and other chassis structures as per truck market requirement
  • Gathering all technical specifications and preparation of technical requirements document of the components
  • Detailed development of concepts and reviewing with cross-functional team while working along with colleagues from other sites
  • Product release for Concept, Development, and Industrialization
  • Work closely with partners & supplier for development of components
  • Addressing technical issues in coordination with the supplier and cross-functional team
  • Define the verification and validation needs and ensure design fulfils the business targets/requirements
  • Manage topics with Global XFs and Suppliers around the world
  • Establish right participation & contribution to Advance Engineering and roadmaps
  • Lead the deliveries with the global XF teams and responsible and accountable for the Components and system time plan adherence
  • Coach and develop junior team members and temporary engineers
  • Contribute the team and department initiatives towards achieving common strategic goals

Requirements

  • B.E/M. E – Mechanical / Automobile / Production Engineering with Relevant experience of 10-12 yrs
  • Hands-on work experience in Automotive Structural components
  • Strong knowledge on application of GD&T
  • Strong knowledge on engineering fundamentals
  • Have holistic view on deliverables from other interfaces to secure quality & readiness before engineering release and milestones
  • Knowledge of Chassis Equipment packaging, routing & development

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy commercial vehicle industry
  • Competence and exposure to CAD Tools (CREO), Volvo Tools and Processes will be a plus
  • Decent knowledge of Agile Way of working will be an advantage
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse teams and members across countries
  • Action oriented –takes lead on own tasks and able to work/plan independently and deliver within agreed timelines and quality
  • Always Enthusiastic to learn new technologies and ability to demonstrate EXTRAMILE
  • Strongly Customer centric mindset and always on the forefront in delivering value to customer
  • Believes in taking ownership and influence outcomes
