Responsibilities
- Design and document printed wiring board (PWB) layouts compliant with manufacturing standards, industry best practices, and Qualcomm design guidelines.
- Translate schematics and design constraints into high-quality PWB layouts meeting project goals for advanced 5G products.
- Support Automotive, Mobile, Infrastructure, IoT, and Compute programs, including development of form factor accurate (FFA) high-volume test platforms and circuit boards.
- Design boards utilizing stacked microvias, sequential lamination stack-ups, and advanced design rules for fine-pitch components.
- Collaborate with engineering teams in the US and India to deliver innovative PWB design solutions for high-performance electronic assemblies.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners to ensure successful PWB fabrication and assembly.
Requirements
- Proficiency in industry-standard PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Siemens/Mentor Xpedition, PADS, or Cadence Allegro.
- Proven track record of developing complex PWB design solutions across a variety of product applications.
- 5+ years actively involved in PWB design for high-density electronics packaging.
- 5+ years’ experience designing consumer-grade mobile products or low volume test products utilizing latest generation processor chips & ICs.
- Design for Manufacture (DFM) analysis experience utilizing Valor and/or CAM350 tools.
Desired Qualifications
- Design experience: RF, Analog, High-speed digital circuits - DDR2, 3 & 4, HDMI, PCIe, SATA, MIPI, USB 2,3.x, GigE, ATE Platforms: 93K, uFlex and iFlex.
- Expert understanding and demonstrated application of PWB design principles, practices, and standards.
- Ability to perform complex PWB design tasks requiring extensive skill and knowledge of fabrication and assembly process capabilities and limitations.
- Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems and proposes PWB design trade-offs.
- Determines PWB design trade-offs necessary to meet design requirements, produce high quality cost effective PWBs that meet schedule objectives.
- Understands requirements driving PWB technology and process trends and their application to Qualcomm designs.
- Maintains technical coordination with Engineering and Manufacturing, resolving PWB design issues with vendors.
- Participates in process improvement, PWB and DFM checklists and guidelines.
- Experience working with various EMI mitigation techniques and practices.
- Experience with IDF/EMN file exchange between mechanical and HW teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills to help direct, prioritize, and clearly set project tasks per schedule.
- Communicate milestones and directions to outside team members.
- Effectively multitasks and meets aggressive schedules in a dynamic environment.
- Prepare and deliver design reviews to project team.
