The Principal Enterprise Architect - Business & Information will guide critical business and technology decisions for Mack and Volvo Trucks North America by connecting strategy to outcomes, capabilities, and information. This role focuses on supporting major commitments with clear analysis of dependencies, risks, and trade-offs, aiming to improve decision-making and alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Support significant business and technology decisions by evaluating alternatives and making dependencies, risks, costs, assumptions, and tradeoffs visible.
  • Lead Business Architecture by connecting strategy and business outcomes to capabilities, value streams, operating models, and transformation planning.
  • Lead Information Architecture by clarifying business-information concepts, ownership, authoritative sources, quality, lifecycle, and reuse.
  • Identify enterprise consequences across domains, surfacing duplication, fragmentation, and opportunities for reuse of capabilities, information, products, and services.
  • Provide enterprise context for technology and platform decisions, collaborating with DTO, Solution Architects, and Technical Leads.
  • Engage early and proportionately in decision-making processes and architecture forums.
  • Maintain decision-relevant architecture knowledge using SAP LeanIX and other appointed repositories.
  • Operate across multiple business and architecture domains to identify enterprise implications.
  • Serve as a trusted architecture advisor to senior leaders on significant decisions, investments, and transformations.
  • Lead complex and ambiguous engagements.
  • Influence decisions through expertise, analysis, facilitation, relationships, and recommendations.
  • Establish direction, mentor others, and advance Business Architecture, Information Architecture, and decision-oriented Enterprise Architecture practices.

Requirements

  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, executive communication, stakeholder influence, and constructive challenge.
  • Proficiency in decision framing, alternatives and tradeoff analysis, dependency analysis, and facilitation.
  • Ability to work effectively through ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Expertise in business capabilities, value streams, operating models, strategy-to-execution alignment, target direction, and transformation planning.
  • Knowledge of business-information concepts, ownership, authoritative sources, quality, lifecycle, information flows, protection, and reuse.
  • Understanding of application, integration, platform, lifecycle, reuse, and cross-domain dependency analysis.
  • Sufficient technology understanding to collaborate credibly with technical architecture and delivery organizations.
  • Hands-on SAP LeanIX experience is strongly preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of TOGAF, BIZBOK, ArchiMate, BPMN, and related architecture methods is beneficial.
  • Relevant automotive, commercial vehicle, manufacturing, aftermarket, dealer, customer, data, or digital-product experience is beneficial.
