Emerson is hiring a Senior/Lead Engineer for Product Packaging in Pune, India. This role involves designing primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for new and existing products, focusing on innovation, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability using CAD software. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers, manage engineering changes, and drive cost reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for existing/new products and accessories.
  • Develop and improve packaging systems for quality, function, cost, and merchandising using CAD software.
  • Solicit supplier quotes and consult with purchasing/production for feasibility and cost.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Sourcing, and outside suppliers on packaging proposals.
  • Provide innovative, creative, and sustainable packaging solutions for sustaining and NPD projects.
  • Stay updated on industrial/retail packaging trends and initiate improvements for global sustainability objectives.
  • Manage Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Notices (ECN) for packaging designs.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction activities related to product packaging.
  • Build and maintain supplier relations for packaging, prototyping, and production.
  • Participate in Emerson's sustainability efforts, leading projects to reduce single-use plastics.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs to track packaging sustainability improvements.
  • Develop packaging procedures/work instructions for new and existing designs.
  • Request and analyze packaging testing results from the lab.
  • Develop and maintain product engineering operating standards for packaging and labeling.
  • Work with Graphics design for packaging artwork and die-lines.

Requirements

  • Engineering Graduate (Mechanical or Packaging Engineering preferred).
  • 7-10 years of experience in design and development of packaging for industrial products and retail displays (including carton boxes, inserts, wooden pallets, clamshells, blisters).
  • Hands-on experience with packaging CAD tools like ArtiosCAD / PICADOR (ArtiosCAD preferred).
  • Good understanding of Engineering drawings, Standards, and Specifications.
  • Knowledge of Sustainable Packaging Regulations & Best Practices / Packaging test standards.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Exposure to a global work environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters in Packaging Technology or Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge on Engineering CAD tool will be an added advantage.
