The Lead Specialist - Project Quality will drive quality assurance activities for new product introductions and project changes within Autoliv's automotive safety systems. This role involves planning and executing quality strategies, leading cross-functional quality reviews, and ensuring robust control plans throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and typically 12+ years of experience in quality roles, preferably in automotive or safety-critical products.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality planning for projects, including creation and maintenance of Quality Plans, Control Plans and Verification Matrices.
- Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional project quality gates, design reviews and product sign-offs.
- Define and manage project-specific inspection, testing and validation activities to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
- Perform risk assessments (e.g., PFMEA) and drive implementation of mitigation actions with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers.
- Support supplier quality activities including supplier selection, process audits, PPAP/PSW review and supplier corrective action tracking.
- Investigate quality issues during development and launch, lead root cause analysis (5 Why, RCA) and ensure timely, effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor project quality metrics and provide regular reporting to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment between project documentation (drawings, specifications, BOMs) and quality requirements; maintain traceability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, reduce variation and improve manufacturability and testability.
- Provide coaching and guidance to project team members on quality methods, tools and best practices.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan and other product development quality tools.
- Experience in project quality management within automotive or complex manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis techniques.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment.

Desired Qualifications
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) are an advantage.
- Experience with quality management systems and PLM/ERP tools is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience in automotive or safety-critical products preferred.
