Saab, Inc. seeks an Import Analyst to establish and manage its U.S. import compliance program. This role involves authorizing cross-border moves, developing policies and procedures, and building relationships with internal teams, brokers, and forwarders to ensure compliance with customs regulations.
Responsibilities
- Construct, improve, and run the U.S. import control framework.
- Build relationships with site shipping, programs, brokers, and forwarders.
- Draft and operationalize import policies and SOPs.
- Engage with Saab, Inc.'s international affiliates to coordinate imports and exports.
- Clear imports through Customs by reviewing entry packets and resolving issues.
- Assign and maintain HTS classifications.
- Administer Duty-Free Entry (DFE) under HTSUS 9808.00.30.
- Manage Temporary Import Bonds (TIBs), carnets, and ITAR temporary import authorizations.
- Support ACE for imports, including duty accuracy and payment authorization.
- Support customs bonds and Powers of Attorney.
- Manage the compliance side of broker and forwarder relationships.
- Approve International Shipping Requests (ISR) and domestic tariff questionnaires.
- Put import and temporary import/export activity into a durable system of record.
- Use SharePoint and process-improvement skills to replace informal knowledge with repeatable processes.
- Assess sites against import requirements and address gaps.
- Travel domestically and possibly internationally, 5%-10% annually.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, or a related field with 3+ years in U.S. import/customs operations or import compliance, or a Master’s degree with 1+ year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of CBP entry, HTS classification, and broker filing processes.
- Sufficient export control literacy to flag and escalate issues.
- Experience writing or improving a procedure, playbook, or tracker.
- Strong communication skills.
- Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Comfort working in ACE or a GTM tool.
- Willingness to work in internal systems and platforms.
- Must be a U.S. person.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance may be required.
- This position may require access to export-controlled technical data.

- Experience within the defense industry.
- Security clearance or eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
- Experience working with foreign entities and an appreciation of cultural differences.
- Ability to work independently as well as under direction.
- Strong organizational skills to perform and manage multiple substantive and administrative activities concurrently.
- Ability to build and cultivate strong working relationships with brokers, site shipping, programs, and other key stakeholders.
- Enjoys challenges, identifies improvements, and finds solutions.
- Motivation to learn and improve.
- Interest in sitting for the Customs Broker License exam later with Saab, Inc.'s backing.
