Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-driven compressors, generators, and tools, focusing on diesel engine issues.
- Perform preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on customer equipment.
- Identify root causes of failures and recommend durable repair solutions.
- Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and engine fault codes.
- Act as the primary company representative on customer sites, communicating technical issues clearly.
- Explain repair needs, risks, and benefits in business terms.
- Build trust-based, long-term customer relationships.
- Identify and actively sell repair, overhaul, and preventative maintenance work.
- Prepare and present clear, professional service quotes to customers.
- Recommend additional services, parts, or upgrades.
- Operate effectively in an incentivized, performance-based compensation model.
- Travel extensively to customer locations, including overnight travel (up to 80%).
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing service on major brand equipment and engines.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic engine diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines, preferably working with compressors and generators.
- Ability to perform fault diagnostics (starting, power loss, overheating, emission issues).
- Ability to repair fuel, air, cooling, lubrication, and exhaust systems.
- Ability to interpret engine fault codes and service manuals.
- Familiarity with Tier 3/Tier 4 engines, sensors, ECUs, and basic emission components.
- Ability to sell repair services and confidently explain technical issues and their business impact.
- Ability to build clear, professional quotes on iPad/laptop.
- Propose preventative actions, not just corrective repairs.
- Recognize opportunities for engine overhauls, compressor builds, service kits, upgrades, or accessories.
- Comfortable being incentivized on sales results.
- Technical service experience maintaining and repairing compressed air equipment, generators, or equivalent.
- Forklift certification required (company support available if needed).
- A valid driver's license is required.
