Saab, Inc. is looking for a Facilities Specialist to manage the daily operations and maintenance of its physical facilities in Bristol, RI, with support for Cranston, RI, and Quincy, MA. The role involves a wide range of handyman, repair, and maintenance tasks, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and supporting MEP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations and maintenance of company facilities.
  • Perform general handyman duties like furniture moves, basic electrical, spot painting, cleaning, light construction, and exterior cleanup.
  • Conduct office furniture setups, carpentry, janitorial, and general building maintenance.
  • Execute building and equipment repairs, including basic plumbing.
  • Troubleshoot industrial electrical systems and support MEP systems maintenance.
  • Perform building preventive maintenance.
  • Operate site equipment and use hand/power tools for assigned work.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors on building and equipment repairs.
  • Provide support to vendors, contractors, security, cafeteria operations, and media relations.
  • Manage interoffice mail, wastepaper recycling, and other waste management activities.
  • Assist with custodial activities and stock employee break areas.
  • Offer audio-visual (AV) setup support for meetings and conferences.
  • Maintain facility documentation (power diagrams, network diagrams, space usage).
  • Assist with editing and handling media materials.
  • Host corporate visitors.
  • Develop advanced facilities maintenance competencies as the role evolves.
  • Utilize tools and analytical problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve facilities issues.
  • Exercise sound judgment when resolving issues and formulating recommendations.
  • Clearly communicate project updates and technical results.
  • Maintain frequent internal and occasional external professional contacts.
  • Travel intermittently between Bristol, RI, Cranston, RI, and Quincy, MA facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare, academic, or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to effectively use hand and power tools and other appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve facilities-related issues using analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance for classified work areas.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant trade license or certification in HVAC/mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or a related field.
