Vattenfall is seeking a Director Optimisation Continental & Portfolio Strategy in Hamburg to lead a department of 25 FTE in managing daily bidding, forecasting, and mid-term planning for energy assets across Germany, Netherlands, and UK. This executive role requires strategic leadership, strong analytical skills, and a passion for energy markets to drive business transformation and optimize asset value in a fossil-free future.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a department of around 25 FTE and approximately 12 direct reports within BU Assets.
  • Oversee operational daily bidding of power and ancillary services for Vattenfall's generation assets in Germany, the Netherlands, and UK.
  • Lead forecasting of renewable power generation.
  • Manage mid-term planning and valuation support for pumped storages and other assets and contracts.
  • Support the onboarding of new assets into the portfolio and contribute to model and systems development.
  • Engage in special projects, strategy development, and regulatory affairs.
  • Contribute to the group-wide hedging process and the development of Vattenfall's portfolio strategy.

Requirements

  • Relevant university degree.
  • Passion for energy markets.
  • Strategic mindset and vision.
  • Exemplify the Vattenfall LEAD model (Lead Yourself, Enable People, Align Teams, and Drive Performance).
  • Relevant experience in energy markets, understanding strategic challenges and operational reality.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with an affinity for digital transformation.
  • Performance-oriented leader with strong people management skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing operational business teams.
  • Great cooperation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information and manage different stakeholders on all managerial levels.
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and written.

Desired Qualifications

  • Fluency in German is a plus.
