Saab Australia is looking for DevSecOps Engineers for the EdgeRunner project, focused on developing the Saab 9LV Combat Management System runtime platform. Roles require experience in CI/CD, IaC, containerization, and monitoring, with Senior roles also involving technical leadership and mentoring. Positions are based in Adelaide or Melbourne, Australia.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the future development of the Saab 9LV Combat Management System (CMS).
- Design and develop an innovative runtime platform supporting future 9LV CMS capability (EdgeRunner project).
- Ensure the platform meets performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
- Enable seamless integration with existing systems and future capabilities.
- Drive best practices in platform engineering.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align technical solutions with operational and mission needs.
- Act as Product Owner for assigned EdgeRunner DevSecOps activities (Senior role).
- Lead technical direction and provide architectural guidance (Senior role).
- Lead analysis, prototyping, design, implementation, measurement, and presentation of DevSecOps solutions (Senior role).
- Build relationships and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and manage needs for EdgeRunner.
- Ensure global alignment of EdgeRunner goals (Senior role).
- Mentor and coach the EdgeRunner team (Senior role).
- Active in completion of planned EdgeRunner activities (DevSecOps Engineer role).
- Active in developing specification, design, implementation, integration, testing and deployment activities (DevSecOps Engineer role).
- Maintain relationships and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (DevSecOps Engineer role).
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications (bachelor’s degree) in a relevant discipline (Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field etc.), and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry).
- Broad understanding of technology and technology trends.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud, zero trust architecture and messaging bus architectures technologies and technology trends.
- Scripting skills using languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Demonstrated experience of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery concepts.
- Demonstrated experience of Implementing CI/CD solutions.
- Demonstrated experience of Implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
- Demonstrated experience of Building and deploying containerised applications.
- Demonstrated experience of Application and infrastructure monitoring and incident response.
- Demonstrated experience of Configuration tools such as Ansible.
- Demonstrated experience of monitoring and analytic tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack.
- Demonstrated experience of Linux, open-source applications and tools management.
- Demonstrated experience of containerised applications.
- Applicants must be Australian citizens.
- Applicants must hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV1 level.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Experience with Agile principles, practices and processes.
- Experience with Analysing and implementing ASD ISM controls.
