Our Richmond manufacturing facility is seeking a Buyer/Planner to manage material procurement according to the production schedule. This role involves working with international suppliers, analyzing quotes, monitoring inventory, and supporting strategic planning methodologies. A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a similar field and 1+ years of experience are required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze quotes received, select or recommend suppliers, and schedule deliveries.
  • Plan for and purchase materials according to the master production schedule.
  • Monitor and adjust work in progress, schedules, and delivery of finished goods.
  • Ensure material availability through accurate inventory monitoring, purchasing, and follow-up.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategic production planning methodologies.
  • Analyze inventory values and system setup to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Monitor forecasting system per supplier.
  • Support supplier development per Alfa Laval toolbox.
  • Monitor air freight costs.
  • Monitor and communicate Product Supply Agreements (PSA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or similar degree with interest in working in manufacturing.
  • 1+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge in buying and planning, including purchasing materials, scheduling and delivery, inventory, and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Interest in working with both Domestic and International Supply Chains.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and independently manage workload.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prioritize candidates who reside in the US or have an established presence in the area.
