Saab is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer for their IT Infrastructure team in Japan. This role involves supporting server hardware, software configuration, and maintenance in Linux environments, as well as providing technical support and collaborating with global teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, basic knowledge of system administration and networking, and communication skills in Japanese and English.

Responsibilities

  • Support the assessment of server hardware requirements, server setup, configuration, and deployment activities.
  • Install, configure, and maintain applications in Linux-based environments.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and root cause analysis using system diagnostics and log files.
  • Provide first-level technical support for customer systems during warranty and maintenance phases.
  • Support product demonstrations together with the Application Engineering team.
  • Assist in change management activities and maintain system documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and support communication with partners and customers.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of programs in Japan in collaboration with local and international colleagues.
  • Work with cross-functional teams throughout the system lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent qualification).
  • Basic knowledge of server administration, networking, and Linux operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of system architecture and ability to read technical documentation.
  • Basic scripting or programming experience (e.g., Bash or Python in Linux environments).
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in a structured environment.
  • Communication skills: Japanese (business-level - for customer interaction & documentation), English (basic to intermediate level - for internal & global communication).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Proxmox).
  • Experience with IT infrastructure setup, system integration, or technical support.
  • Knowledge of communications systems or signal processing.
