Synopsys is seeking a Senior Application Engineer with extensive ASIC verification and emulation experience to support customers using their ZeBu platform. This role involves deploying, configuring, and debugging emulation systems, providing technical support, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance product offerings.
Responsibilities
- Deploy and configure ZeBu emulation systems for customer evaluations and production use.
- Debug verification and software validation issues across customer designs, tracing problems through HDL, HVL, and embedded software layers.
- Work directly with customers during presales evaluations to demonstrate ZeBu capabilities and build proof-of-concept flows.
- Provide pre and post-sales technical support, resolving escalations related to design methodology, tool configuration, performance tuning, or integration.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and R&D teams to communicate customer requirements and contribute to product roadmap discussions.
- Develop application notes, reference flows, and technical collateral to aid customer adoption of emulation.
- Analyze customer designs to recommend partitioning strategies, testbench architectures, and co-simulation approaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in IC design, verification, emulation, or FPGA prototyping.
- Strong knowledge of ASIC design verification methodologies including simulation, testbench development, and coverage-driven verification.
- Proficiency with Verilog and VHDL, and solid understanding of how designs are written, synthesized, and debugged.
- Good understanding of ASIC design and verification flows from RTL to gate-level, including synthesis, timing, and sign-off concepts.
- Strong communication skills, ability to explain technical issues, document workarounds, and present solutions to mixed audiences.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with SystemVerilog or C/C++ is a strong plus, especially in testbench development or embedded software validation.
- Resourceful, able to work with incomplete information and develop a plan.
- Skilled in prioritizing tasks when multiple customers need assistance.
- Comfortable pushing back on customer requests when they do not make technical sense.
- Takes ownership of customer issues, coordinating across teams and keeping the customer informed.
- Ability to explain complex emulation tradeoffs concisely.
- Fast learner, quick to get up to speed on new designs, features, or methodologies.
