Introduction:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and technically inclined college student or recent graduate to join our IT Data Engineering and Analytics team as intern. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to explore the intersection of data governance and data engineering, with a focus on programming, metadata automation, and integration of cloud data sources (AWS)

 

Your Job:  

  • Develop scripts and programs to automate metadata collection for data catalog and data lineage tracking
  • Build and integrate APIs to extract metadata from cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Support ingestion of metadata into data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation)
  • Assist in building connectors or services that support metadata and governance automation
  • Participate in developing tools or dashboards to monitor data governance KPIs
  • Document technical processes and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
  • Work closely with data stewards, architects, and data engineering teams to extract, transform, and load metadata using custom connectors or APIs.
  • Develop and maintain data lineage models, ensuring accurate end-to-end traceability of data across systems.
  • Perform cataloging of enterprise data assets, enhancing metadata enrichment and classification.
  • Support onboarding of new data sources and contribute to enterprise metadata strategy and roadmap.

 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Document integration patterns, data flow diagrams, and metadata models for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality and accuracy of metadata, supporting automated data discovery and profiling initiatives.
  • Partner with teams to classify data, maintain data definitions, identify critical and sensitive data for core capabilities, support data sourcing /usage requests, provide resources to solve data issues, and drive consistency, standardization, usability, and change management of data products and data capabilities
  • Address data management business requirements as needed

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Final year student or recent graduate in computer science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or related fields.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and experience in consuming or building APS integrations
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Good programming skills Python or Java for metadata integration scripting.
  • Basic knowledge of databases (SQL/No SQL) and data structures

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eagerness to learn data governance concepts like data cataloging, lineage, and metadata
  • Exposure to data quality tools and governance workflows in Collibra or Alation.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
