Seeking a talented candidate with experience in automotive engineering and laboratory research.   • Experience in full vehicle testing or component testing or Corrosion prevention or Mechanical design for automotive applications.  
  • Direct experience in an Automotive Engineering or Laboratory or Applied or Basic Research environment is a plus.  
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and properly apply advanced characterization techniques as SEM.  
  • Demonstrate ability with the interpretation of relevant Industry standards (ASTM, ISO, SAE) is a plus.  
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate, communicate and implement a strategy/vision in English/Spanish.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write in depth technical reports and detailed technical specifications.  
  • Self-starter, able to work independently as well as in a team, able to follow directions and to make job related decisions.  
  • Demonstrate experience with ISO9001 and/or ISO17025 audits is a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional team for root cause analysis / problem solving  
  • DFSS and/or Shainin Reactive training - Green Belt Certified (both)

  • Point of Contact for specific Materials technology, process and / or specialty area and knowledge of how it applies to the vehicle / system / component.  
  • Ownership of standards / specifications for subject material / technology.  
  • Lead applicable issue resolution with root cause analysis and appropriate laboratory testing.  
  • Identify, assess and develop experiments using diverse metallic and polymers materials using advanced characterization techniques.  
  • Ensure that preferred practices, materials and processes are implemented on current and new vehicles programs to achieve global procedures  
  • Ensure all enablers are properly utilized and released to meet materials functional objectives for global and regional and local targets.  
  • Provide support for vehicle/component materials validation  
  • Resolve issues related to corrosion prevention, metallic and organic/polymeric materials performance.  
  • Follow up the maintenance and calibration for selected equipment in the Laboratory.
  • Design, develop, and assess laboratory test procedures and write reports based on Laboratory experimental tests results.  
  • Identification and assessment of fluids & lubricants commodities, including: gasoline, diesel fuel, alternative fuels (ethanol, biodiesel, CNG), grease, refrigerants, brake fluid, power steering fluid, gear lubricants.  
  • Interfacing with Powertrain / Release Engineering to troubleshoot and problem solve issues related to the respective commodities, including applications in the Chassis, Fuels systems, Cooling systems, Powertrain and Driveline (materials critical to the function of every moving part on the vehicle).  
  • Active participation in Global Materials strategy discussions and decisions on specifications and processes harmonization.  
  • Product Development support for vehicle/component validation, factory fil, service (Mopar) and specialty test fuels. *Development and implementation of best practices for assigned commodities  
  • Development & maintenance of technical Material and Process Engineering Standards for assigned commodities and performing revisions & updates as needed.
