ABB is seeking a Turbine Control Specialist in Genova, Italy, to manage and execute projects for ST/GTs Turbine Control. This hybrid role involves coordinating engineering disciplines, providing technical support for testing and commissioning, and developing technical documentation. The ideal candidate has a technical diploma or degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering with at least 3 years of experience in turbine control applications or industrial automation.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute Local Business Line projects for ST/ GTs Turbine Control.
- Complete assignments on multiple Turbine Control System projects.
- Coordinate engineering disciplines across several Turbine projects.
- Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and prepare project documents.
- Improve work plan effectiveness in collaboration with other functions.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to communicate technical requirements to suppliers.
- Provide technical evaluation of supplier proposals.
- Develop, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and tools.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with safety regulations and contractual requirements.
- Assist in preparing proposals and presentations of engineering projects.
- Create work plans and cost estimates.
- Review and approve scope, budget, and schedule for assignments.
- Ensure quality deliveries on time and within targeted cost.
Requirements
- Technical diploma or a Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Steam/Gas Turbine control applications and projects or in Industrial Automation.
- Technical experience with Automation and Electrical products and solutions in the Oil & Gas and/or Power Generation domains.
- Strong background in Automation, including DCS, Instrumentation & Control (I&C), and Protection systems.
- General understanding of network engineering and IT/IS, including PC handling, Windows applications, PC configurations, virus scanners, interfaces, backups, and cybersecurity.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications and related business and engineering software (CAD/AUTOCAD, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe).
- Customer-focused mentality.
- Availability to participate in commissioning activities, both in Italy and abroad.
- Fluent communication in both English and Italian.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with Automation projects involving Turbine OEMs is a plus.
- Knowledge of ABB Control Systems is considered a plus.
