Alfa Laval is seeking a Strategic Purchaser in Satara for a full-time, on-site position. Responsibilities include securing material availability, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost, quality, and delivery improvements. The role requires a B.E./B.Tech or Diploma with relevant experience, knowledge of PPAP, SQE, supplier development, and ERP systems.
Responsibilities
- Secure material availability according to internal and external customer requirements.
- Communicate material requirements and product specifics to suppliers.
- Place and secure delivery of purchase orders.
- Limit deviations and carry out corrective measures in case of issues.
- Approve supplier payments.
- Support the handshake process.
- Track daily results related to quality, delivery, and cost milestones.
- Participate in Cell Status Board meetings.
- Engage in problem-solving and improvement activities.
- Suggest improvements in Instructions / SOPs.
- Focus on waste elimination.
- Engage in safety and quality work and report risks immediately.
- Take responsibility for own development and staying informed.
- Conduct supplier audits and visits if necessary.
- Manage importing of goods for local assembly.
Requirements
- B.E. / B.Tech. (Mech/Prod) or Diploma (Mech/Prod).
- 3-5 years of experience for B.E/B. Tech or 6-8 years of experience for Diploma in the domain.
- Knowledge of PPAP, SQE and supplier development is mandatory.
- Lean Six Sigma qualified.
- Good understanding and hands-on exposure in fabrication & machining.
- Deep knowledge of the ERP system.
- Proficiency in English (speech and writing).
- Understanding of Supply Chain.
- Supplier association.
