The Azure Storage Infrastructure team is seeking a Software Engineer to design and develop solutions for hardware accelerators, processors, and performance improvements. This role involves the full software development lifecycle, including operations, scaling, and support, and collaborates across Research, Storage, and Compute teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to derive scenarios and user requirements.
  • Drive identification of dependencies and development of design documents.
  • Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code for performance and maintainability.
  • Leverage product feature expertise and partner with project managers to drive plans and work items.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers.
  • Monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and initiate actions to restore.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends and technical solutions to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C and C++.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C and C++.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C and C++.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with kernel development, embedded systems, hardware offloads, or virtualization.
  • Experience with storage datapath performance, memory management, or device virtualization.
  • Experience with Cloud Service Provider (CSP), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), or measurement and validation.

  • Typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year.
  • Different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
