Job Summary

Day to Day Operation and Troubleshooting for the : Mainframe IMS Database Administration (DBA), to work with US client on EST Support Hrs.

Key Responsibilities

IMS for z/OS • Strong knowledge of IMS Database Manager, DBD source and generation, understanding of Database Recovery Control [DBRC] information and commands, BMP and basic DL/I coding imbedded in COBOL source. • Familiarity with IMS Transaction Manager, including basic control region and message region processing, PSB coding and generation, and ACB, MODBLKS, and FORMAT generation. FORMAT coding is a plus, but not required. A basic knowledge of Control Region commands for monitoring Sub-systems, Regions, Databases, and Transaction Queues is required. • Strong working knowledge of HALDB partitioning schemes and underlying structures. Ability to backup and restore and maintain partitions. • Familiarity with IMS Utility JCL, execution, restart, commands for Database allocation changes, and IMS Database backup and recovery techniques. • Responsible for the administration, maintenance, performance, and availability of IMS databases in a mainframe environment. • Manage and maintain IMS Full Function and Fast Path databases • Create and modify DBD (Database Description) and PSB (Program Specification Block) • Perform Backup & Recovery Management • Plan and execute database reorganization activities • Monitor IMS performance metrics (I/O, buffer pools, response time) • Expertise in IMS utilities: DFSUDMP0 (Dump),DFSUCUM0 (Change Utility) & Image copy utilities
